Our 2024 U.S. Keynote Speaker is Dr. Rachelle Keck, President of the only remaining college or university in the U.S. which was founded by Danish immigrants. Since her induction as university President in 2022, Dr. Keck has taken a keen interest in Grand View’s Danish roots, and continues to foster the school’s relationship to Denmark. The connection to Denmark also has personal meaning for Dr. Keck as a portion of her family heritage originates from Southern Denmark near Sønderborg. Grand View was founded in 1896 in Des Moines, Iowa by followers of Danish theologian NFS Grundtvig. Grand View plays an important role in the continued strong relationship between the United States and Denmark.

Following a series of major concerts with a band in 2022 and 2023, Stine Bramsen and Kajsa Vala have decided to tour and perform just the two of them, completely acoustic and entirely alone. They will be playing some of Stine’s own songs, but there will also be room for a brand new song or two, a reinterpretation from the Alphabeat catalog, as well as a couple of other surprises.
“On my last tour, I scaled down the size of the band and increased the intimacy with the audience. I think something really good and honest came out of that, and Kajsa and I felt compelled to explore it further. A budding desire to go out and play just the two of us because we have a quite unique harmony between us both musically and personally. I’ve also gained the courage to speak a bit more between the songs and show a few more sides of myself, and I think the collaboration with Kajsa creates the finest framework for that – and I’m really excited!”
Kajsa Vala is an artist in her own right and has released three albums since her debut in 2016. She is trained at the conservatory and has lived and worked as a songwriter in Nashville. She is herself a sensual vocalist and a guitarist who truly masters her instrument, from acoustic and dobro to a strong, heavy electric guitar. Most recently, the two were featured together in the soulful single release ‘Sunday Morning.’
“Kajsa and I are going to surprise people. Yes, it will be quiet and delicate at times, but it will also be energetic and uplifting. I think the audience will clearly feel how much fun Kajsa and I have together.”
